Exhibition Circus 157

Circus 157 - One day, one operation, five crashes

Circus 157 is the code name of an operation of the Royal Air Force that took place on May 5, 1942. That day, five Spitfires end up in an air battle over the Flanders-France border area. The aircrafts crash, four pilots are killed. One pilot manages to stay out of the hands of the Germans. Today the crash sites are visually marked with a monument in Dranouter, Nieuwkerke, Ploegsteert and Proven. This WWII story is complete with the creation of a memorial sign in Hardifort in the North of France. From 15 August to 20 September, the exhibition can be visited at Tourism Cassel. In addition, an interactive car and e-bike route connects the five crash sites.

The expo in the Gasthuis-chapel is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m.
