Galgebossen walk

The hiking trail explores the Galgebos, located on the border between Elverdinge, Vlamertinge and Poperinge. The woods are the relic of a forest that stretched from Beselare to Watou, but disappeared between the 9th and 14th centuries.

If you like fauna and flora, this is the place to be. Connoisseurs can even distinguish little periwinkle among age-old oaks, a wild plant that is almost unique to this region!

For those interested in the region's wartime past, the route passes Hagle Dump Cemetery. You will also walk briefly on the famous Plankenroute, an important World War I connecting road.
